Overview

The purpose of the Master of Science in Engineering (Electrical, Electronic, and Computer Engineering) programme at the University of KwaZulu-Natal is to provide students with the opportunity to gain advanced knowledge and research skills in their chosen field of engineering. The programme is designed to deepen students’ understanding of theoretical concepts, analytical methods, and emerging technologies that underpin modern electrical, electronic, and computer engineering systems.

Through the research component, students will engage in independent, original research that contributes to the development of innovative engineering solutions and advances the body of knowledge within the discipline. In this process, they will develop a critical awareness of the practical, industrial, and societal contexts in which engineering technologies are applied.

Entry Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Bachelor of Science Honours in Engineering. 
  • Applicants must have a credit-weighted average of at least 60% in the relevant qualification, as stipulated in General Academic Rules CR2(b) and MR2(b).
  • Permission from the College Dean of Research is required if the applicant does not meet the minimum average requirement.
  • Additional requirements may apply and are outlined under the rules for specific qualifications within the discipline.
