Prof Hongjun Xu received a BSc degree from the Guilin Institute of Electronic Technology (now the Guilin University of Electronic Technology), Guilin, China, in 1984; a MSc degree from the Institute of Telecontrol and Telemeasure, Shi Jian Zhuang, China, in 1989; and a PhD degree from the Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Beijing, China, in 1995. From 1997 to 2000, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow with the University of Natal (now the University of KwaZulu-Natal), Durban, South Africa, and Inha University, Incheon, Korea.
