Dr Khan completed his MSc soon after graduating with his BSc, and then went to work in the Power Industry. During that time (20 years), he completed his PhD in Superconductivity, registered as a Professional Engineer and was elected as a Fellow of the South African Institute of Electrical Engineers. He has returned to academia intent on merging the disconnect that exists between industry and academia.
